All Colors of the Heart
Title: All Colors of the Heart
Author: Marcin Rosadziński
The Heart Nebula also known as IC 1805 is an emission nebula, 7500 light years away from Earth and located in the Perseus Arm of the Galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia. The nebula looks exactly like a human heart. Its shape perhaps fitting of the Valentine's Day, this heart glows brightly in red light emitted by its most prominent element: excited hydrogen but this long-exposure image was also blended with light emitted by oxygen (blue).
The clouds themselves are shaped by stellar winds and radiation from massive hot stars in the nebula's newborn star cluster Melotte 15 about 1.5 million years young.
